Upadate and 4's
I went last Friday to see if I qualify for Lasik eye surgery. That's the one where they cut a flap of your cornea open, laser away bad parts, and close the flap. Voila you have 20/20 instantly. Things that could go wrong are the flap coming off. I know the Army will not let it's soldiers have it done for that reason. Oh and of course infection with the flap.
I do not qualify for that surgery. My corneas are too thin.
I DO qualify for PRK. That's where they melt off a teeny bit of the cornea and scrape away the bad parts with a laser.
lol yes I have made both procedures sound painful and unwanted. I looked at eye surgery for years. I've had glasses since puberty hit in 3rd grade. Yes I was young and yes it sucked. I've weighed the good and bad and the things that could go wrong.
PRK takes 2-4 weeks for your vision to be where it's supposed to be after the surgery. It can take 6 months.
Still, I'm doing it.
Luckily my credit is good enough to qualify for financing! I'll schedule my surgery the weekend of July 11th. The worse part about the wait is I must wear my glasses up until the day.
I LIVE in my contacts. I've been without them since last Tuesday so the tests could be done. I'm -7.50 or -7.75 in each eye with slight astigmatisms. For you who have no clue what that means, I'm damn near blind! Everything is blurry if it's more than a hand length away from my face. I would be legally blind if glasses and or contacts couldn't correct my vision. As is, my soft contacts let me see 20/20 or better.
Now for random fave thing I ran across today via a friend of a friend's lj.
