whitewater rafting was so sweet!
friday night we got there and set up our stuff, then sat down by the fire. right as we got there someone walked up with like 4 cases. thats kinda funny cuz we were all told no alcohol at all or we would be mad eot leave if we got caught. so then we mixed southern comfort with dr. pepper and had some of that. i really didn't get that drunk but it was still fun. we found out alot about the people who were there cuz they started playing never ever ever....and you say something like "never ever ever have i made out with a girl" and then whoever had done it drinks....but anyways we found out so many interesting/disgusting things about these people, and they were like all friends and had all done things with each other...anyways...its hard to explain.
so the manager of the campgrounds came and told us at midnight that it was time to start to quiet down and that quiet hours were at one am, and that if we had to be told to be quiet after one they would kick us out. well they told us like 2 times and then came back a third time at 12:45 and said we were getting kicked out and that everyone had to leave. i had gone to the bathroom when he came back the third time and was talking to everyone, but mandy said that for the most part people were talking in quiet voices, and that the annoying drunk girls that were there were going to bed. so i come back from the bathroom and hear them all talking to the guy an i just sneak into my tent. but then mandy comes back and tells me that they called the sheriff. so we lay there and pretend to sleep and the sheriff comes to our tent and tells us we have to leave, and we play dumb, told him that we had been sleeping and had no idea what was going on. he said it didn't matter and we had to leave anyways. so we argued with that. but didn't really get anywhere. then some of the kids that were 21 were telling them that nobody there was sober enough to drive. this is the gayest part of the whole thing: the cops were telling us we HAD to leave even though they KNEW that nobody was able to drive. so we were like "you are going to let us drive knowing that we shouldn't be, and i bet you let us leave and then pull us all over for a DUI 10 miles up the road" and his response was "just don't go over 50mph and you won't have to worry about getting pulled over". WHAT AN IDIOT! they aren't supposed to encourage drunk driving! moron! anyways....they eventually had some long talk with the manager and we were allowed to stay if we went straight to bed and didn't say another word. but basically all while we were packing up cuz we thought we were going to have to leave we were being loud....so we were loud for like another hour and a half, instead they could have just let us go to bed at 12:45 when they said we had to leave. basically it could have saved alot of trouble.
saturday: got up at like 7am to try and start a fire to cook eggs, but that failed because everything was wet and there were no hot coals left. we thought the class we had to take started at 8:30am, so we went to find it and they said it didn't start until like 9:30 or 10am. so i went back to bed. then we wernt to the class at 10am which consisted of the guy telling us stories about his trips down the river. we breaked for lunch and once we got inside it started to sleet...like really hard, it looked like a monsoon or something. so we were glad we were inside. so we were at this class and then took the really easy test that we had to take to get the credit. and after that we went back to the campsite, mind you all this was like a 2 minute walk away, and people showered, and i went with some people to go see the bridge.
they have this thing there called bridge day. this bridge is really super high and long. its an arch bridge and it was the longest one up until last year when china built one that was 13 feet longer. but anyway, its illegal to jump, like skydive, and stuff off this bridge except for one day a year, on bridge day. and you have to like apply for it and be choosen and everything. they have tons of cops blocking off this bridge and all the surrounding streets and everything and it is a bridge on like a highway...so they basically shut the highway down. and thousands of people come to watch this and stand in the streets, its like a big party. i didn't get there in time to see anyone jump but we managed to find our way down under the bridge, down by the river....the kids i went with went down there last year too. and there were signs, but no cops blocking it so we went down there anyways (yeah i know its badass...lol). so we would be going down this road thats all windy and shit and would just stop at cool spots to take pics....we were like climbing over tons of rocks and everything and up stream and waterfalls...not up the waterfalls, but near them, and eventually we made our way all the way down to the river, and it ended up being the spot where our trip on sunday stopped. the kid backed up his durango all the way to the water...it was sweet.
so eventually we went back to the campsite and got our drink on. wow. the kids i was with for the above adventure had tons of liquor, including jager...yes i was in heaven. i had alot of it....like maybe 6 or 7 shots...and then like 4 beers...me and mandy got a case of 18 to split cuz they only had 24 in bottles and we couldn't have bottles at the campground, but she had been drinking since before i got back, so she drank alot of it. we played euchre and best out of three me and this one kid noel, not pronounced "no l" but more like "nol"...you can ask me if you have questions...anyways we won 2 out of 3 but one of the games i guess was controversial cuz something about mandys deal got skipped or something...i don't know...it was kinda a haze...after those games it was only like 10:30pm and we went back up to the fire and sat there and talk and drank and eventually went to bed i think around 2 or 3.
oh yeah. and saturday after we got back form our little trip to the bridge the one kid brad had a blow dart gun out. nobody knows why....he just did. but i guess before we got back they were doing like target practice on one of the styrofoam coolers. and then they shot some kid in the back. and he was like..."hey try to shoot my ass" so they did. and this was before anyone started drinking. but then later that night after we all had been drinking one of the other kids was like...."shoot me in the ass" and he did it bare ass. and then after the first one they waited a bit and then did it again, but like four times in a row...and one of the darts went in like an inch and a half....he was screaming...but he wanted it...it was so funny. appearently funny enough that i called like 6 people to tell them. but i guess i got kinda confused cuz i told a bunch of different stories, like i told shelly that mandy was getting shot in the ass, and i told sarah that the manager of the campground was getting shot in the ass....yeah...but it really was one of the guys, i think his name was elliot....but im not sure. but anyway that was the funniest thing of the weekend.
sidenote: it was so freaking muddy. we moved the fire pit cuz it was too muddy, but the spot we moved it too ended up getting even muddier, so everyting was a mess. it was so muddy that if you stood in one spot too long you would get stuck, and by too long i mean more then 1 minute.
got up sunday morning to go rafting. it was cold and there was frost on my car, but it warmed up as soon as the sun came up. got all dressed in our hot sexy wetsuits and such and went to the river. the trip was awesome. the sky was sooo clear and sunny. nice end to a mostly wet and cold weekend. our guide was really cool too. he told us lots of jokes, one after every rapid, some about other guides reputations(the girl guides) and then some about hillbillies. they were really funny. i swam in one of the rapids, on purpose, it was sort of fun. wait actually it wasn't. it could have been. but like i started going down it and couldn't get any air in, like everytime i took a breath i was breathing in water. i paniked. the whole time i was telling myself to not panic, and i have been around water since i was born, but i just freaked out. it sucked cuz i didn't think in a million years that i would respond that way ever when i was in water. it really wasn't even a big rapid or anything, it was a class II. so anyways, i got through it and waited for the boat....i just layed back on my lifejacket pillow thing and took deep breaths, i kinda thought i was having an asthma attack actually. and i think i got water in my lungs. so needless to say i didn't swim the other rapid that we could have at the end of the trip, but i did swim in some of the still water and at the end of the trip there was a rock to jump off of. it was like a 10-13 feet drop or something like that. that was fun. we didn't tip our boat at all, its actually really really rare when a boat tips over completely. but we did get really really close. one of the rapids we hit a hole and basically folded in half. even the guide didn't know how we got out of that without tipping. one of the kids fell out so we had to rescue him, but he was ok. i was actually really scared cuz i saw when he got thrown, and then i kept looking for him to surface, and it was a while before he did. but he was undamaged.
so we got back to the campground and showered and headed back for toledo. got stuck in traffic in charleston for an hour before i got off 77 and found my own way until 77 was clear. and mandy drove the rest of the way back from the ohio/WV border. that was good cuz i was tired. and she had taken a nap so she was ok.
yeah. i don't know if thats all of it or not, but im sick of typing and i want to go to bed. it tool me like 45 minutes to write all this.
conan time. bed time. and getting ready for a shitty week ahead.
