Well, I enjoyed this season. Icarus was probably my favorite episode because of all the tongue-in-cheek moments.
And also, Patti Smith is awesome.
But I thought this final case file was so-so.
I liked the shrink scenes I and I thought Goren being so reticent to face his fears is believable. Trust me, when you hit 50, fixing your demons from the past isn't easy. It's easier to just bury them and ignore them.
But in Goren's case, it was preventing him from functioning well on the job upon occasion and in dealing with male authority figures.
I think season 4 was my most favorite season. And I'm one of those who hated season five except for Cruise to Nowhere, To The Bone and ITWSH. I really enjoyed Warren Leight's work but I'm probably in the minority on that.
The ending was perfection, though. Warren Leight gave us that. Goren and Eames working out there together. They're so complex and so right together.
I'm even thinking of a fic to write. I've been inspired by those looks. ;-)
I'm glad your inspired. We need some more writer in this fandom because most of the fic now, honestly, kind of sucks. I have lots of started tics...it's just a matter of what inspires me. That last scene was so promising and I can see writing several fic of gem maneuvering around this new found relationship (because in my cannon they total slept together somewhere in-between catching the Liz ate lady and her meeting him outside his session) while he's still working through his shit and what shit that relationship would bring up for her.I don't know we'll see.
I think my favorite ep was the last street in manhattan and it's the one I haven't been able to catch a rerun of. Plus dad Eames!
And like I said I get the reluctance I just feel like it should have been played differently.
Oh yeah, The Last Street in Manhattan was pretty good, too. Loved meeting Mr. Eames. Loved that he seemed pretty familiar with Bobby.
I think that ending inspires a lot of fan fics. The awkward pauses. The 'eye sex.' OMG lol How anyone can think these two aren't going to get horizontal eventually is beyond me. lol
You put it perfectly. For my part, I liked that the therapy sessions IMO highlighted that Goren feels too damaged for a relationship, yet as he leaves his last session -- there she is, waiting for him. And when he calls her Alex? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he has ever addressed her as anything but Eames.
I've watched that last scene over again at least 4-5 times, eventually I'll tire of it, I know. :)
He's called her Alex once before in Amends. He also referred to her as Alex in Baggage but he didn't actually directly address her. But it's very rare. I mean in 10 years he only called her Alex twice!!! lol
