7 things that were gay awesome about this Tuesday:
1. Naya Rivera's existence. I've spoken with many people about how Naya consistently and effortlessly steals episodes that she's barely in. So you can imagine my feelings about an episode that is basically all Naya. Girl is awesome. Her face is awesome. Her everything is awesome. She just always needs to have crying scenes even though they break my heart.
2. Santana Lopez is better than you. The scene with her abuela. I don't know if I can form thoughts that aren't...I AM NOT OKAY WITH YOUR FACE. I'm pretty happy that they didn't give us the parents scene and we just got the g-ma, to be honest. I'll be curious to see if Glee remembers any of this happening in the coming episodes too...
Sidenote: SNIX.
3. I Kissed A Girl. I was unspoiled for this performance going in, so that was fun. I think I liked this so much if only because when I heard they'd be performing the song, and that on top of that it was going to be used in relation to Santana's coming out (the original rumors were that the glee girls were singing to her), I was all kinds of DO NOT WANT. As it turns out, I mostly enjoyed myself. Dianna's face always cracks me up (do they tell you to look at people like that, Dianna? because....), and the choreo really amused me. I need Naya and Lea to sing together like...all the time. Pezberry feelings aside, I just really like it when they sing together and they make hilarious we-forgot-our-characters-hate-each-other faces. This is actually a frequent problem for Naya in all her group numbers.
4. Brittany and Santana are dating. Every time I remember this it's like brain matter oozing out of my ears. A lot of people are complaining about how Brittany should have had a much more substantial role in Santana's coming out (that awkward moment when Finn very much becomes Brittany in so many ways...'you're the most awesomest girl at this school, Santana), but brittana were back to what made me love them in the first place this episode. Yeah, they didn't get their mack on in any serious manner, but that casual background cheek kiss? Like all I've wanted for them since forever (even if it amused me to watch Naya struggle to get to Heather's height).
5. I'm The Only One. Just...yes. So many things. All the Puck/Everyone feelings (Puck/Rachel...helppppp), Quinn's face doing hilarious things, Rachel totally figuring it out too, Shelby's poker face, Puck and his guitar forever please. But cut your hair. Kthx.
6. Constant Craving. Weird editing choices aside...voices in my earrrrrrrrrs me gusta. Plus there was a lot of Naya's face and I'm easily swayed. I should probably also mention this weird fixation I have for the way Naya moves her hands when she sings, especially when coupled with this head tilt move she has (see: most of Songbird). I have such a thing for it. I don't even know.
Sidenote: is it bad that Tina's 'Quinn, are you okay?' comment actually gave me lots of Mike/Quinn ideas? That doesn't usually happen to me...FEELINGS. LEARN TO FOCUS.
7. Rachel Berry. A lot of this is because I spent the night being constantly amused by Lea's tweeting 'wasn't that a big shocker for Rachel Berry' re: Rachel not singing at sectionals. I don't know why it amused me? It's just...Lea...I love you, but my focus is so not on that right now...other things happened in this episode. This is also because I think Lea is learning how to troll fandom from certain members of her cast...Just saying...That being said, I really enjoyed Rachel in this episode - once I put aside my distaste for the way girl characters are treated in this show especially in relation to Kurt. There is something to be said, however, for showing Rachel's unstoppable determination to get what she wants (and she wants everything too much) and her learning a lesson, in a way, about the consequences of some of that.
