Sea monkeys!

Ever since I was a little kid, I've wanted sea monkeys. I would read the advertisements for them in comic books. I've wanted sea monkeys for about 40 years now. Day before yesterday, I bought a sea monkey kit. It's an Ocean-Zoo kit. I purified the water for 24 hours, and put the eggs in last night. A few shrimp hatched last night, but only a

Actually, I WANT some algae in the tank. Not too much, as it will use up oxygen that the shrimp need to survive. But the shrimp will eat algae, and the ecosystem is designed for them to have some algae. In fact, I believe that some starter algae was included with the egg packet, as food for the shrimplings.

It's a silly little indulgence, but it's giving me a lot of pleasure. This is something that I've always wanted, and it takes almost no resources to have it. Just a little bit of money and time. Even if I splurge on all the accessories, I will spend under $50 for a quiet hobby. And if I have to go to the hospital again, I can take my sea monkeys with me!

Sapphire is Siamese. A Siamese cat will tend to do anything louder and more dramatically than other breeds of cat. Most Siamese have extraordinarily loud voices, and they tend to "talk" to their people, holding conversations with them. I will make some remark to Sapphire, and she will answer with a yowl, or meow, or purr, as it suits her mood. I can then make another comment, and we can talk back and forth for some time. This is somewhat startling to people who have never encountered a Siamese, but those who live with Siamese consider it one of their endearing qualities. People who don't understand or don't like Siamese consider Siamese lovers absolutely crazy. Perhaps we are.

Siamese are known for their extreme stubbornness, as well. I have made this worse by spoiling Sapphire badly. I fell in love with her, and I find it difficult to refuse her anything. I do insist that she stay inside.
