Timmy is one of the worst things to ever happen to Christianity in my opinion. My 'rents adore and fawn over the man and his really crappy written books (well at least the first one was crappy. I did read it and it was horrid stock characters written into a boorish plot line to get theological ideas across that at the time I felt were crap..now I ( Read more... )

As long as you didn't like the Dan Brown books.........talk about hack.

I never started the books so I have no clue, my wife didn't particularly care for them, and didn't finish the series. I know people who did.

I read most of them but ended up not liking the attitudes much - not the voiced theology as such, more the unspoken theology like it's ok to shoot loads of "them" because they're "them", the servants of the antichrist, and we're "us", the good guys. Very Christ-like. (Although I daresay some/many people who resisted the Nazis in WWII would disagree with me).
Now I also disagree with the voiced theology.
I liked the Da Vinci Code (obv disagreed with the theology there too!) but hated Angels and Demons. Sometimes there's a place for crappy books - no not always the fire. :-)

One of my real-life friends on lj, yoongz, just posted something about what must be this same interview. (Which I haven't watched). Have a look.

See, I hated the Da Vinci code, not so much the theology (cause that is just plain bunk in many ways, plus I hate that the only way Mary M made any contribution was by sleeping with the boss) but so much more the writing. I thought it was atrocious. ~shrug~ I tend to think when you have this moral code or thought to get across, it will interfere with the writing unless you are highly skilled (CS Lewis). Hey, I need to get an address from you :D
