Someone please explain to me how this works out. The republican party unanimously voted no in the house, and only 3 votes of Yea in the senate, on the stim package that Obama has finally signed into law. So after all the yelling and votes of "NO, not gonna support it", some of the republicans are patting themselves on the back for...passing the stim package.

* Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-09) - "Luetkemeyer said the project is considered ‘shovel ready' and that's what the economy needs. President Darrell Krueger and Luetkemeyer discussed the educational benefits of the economic stimulus package." [KTVO-TV, 2/17/09]

* Representative Don Young (AK-AL) - "Alaskan Congressman Don Young won a victory for the Alaska Native contracting program and other Alaska small business owners last night in H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. [Congressman Don Young's Press Release; 2/13/09]

* Representative Ken Calvert (CA-44) - "All of us in the Inland Empire will do what we can to direct as much money as we can." [The Press Enterprise; 2/13/09]

* Representative John Mica (FL-07) - "I applaud President Obama's recognition that high-speed rail should be part of America's future," [Congressman John Mica Press Release; 2/13/09]

Oh, and add Kit Bond of Missouri to the list as well as one taking credit for the sudden ability to hire workers for bridges in the state in desperate maintenance, as well as housing funds.

Approval ratings for the "No" Party are responding to all this by dropping. The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press found that 51 percent of respondents disapproved of the House and Senate Republican leaders' performance, as compared with 34 percent who supported them. A Gallup Inc. poll taken at the same time found respondents disapproving the Republicans' actions on the stimulus package by 58 percent to 31 percent. Maybe it was drop in approval ratings that prompted this lot to change tack and start saying, "Yeah Stim even, if we voted against it"?

stimulus, economy, repubs
