Gwiboon dances on the beach, her feet moving in the breaking waves. She hums a melody, soft and mellow. The wind speaks into her ear; the whispers of a lost lover. She wants to cry, but she is unable to. Her heart is frozen and no longer capable of human emotions. The pain within her builds up day by day and she just wants to scream, to cry. Yet, she has no tears to cry. And so she settles for singing her sorrow to the sea. Her humming turns into a song and she walks towards the horizon. The waves continue to break onto the shore. She hears a voice, and she thinks she must be dreaming. It sounds just like him. The person whose name she could not bring herself to speak. But she turns with her heart pounding in her ears, and it’s him. Jonghyun, she breathes. He is panting, and stares at Gwiboon with pleading eyes, telling her not to do it. She hears him whisper ‘I love you’ and her heart just breaks a little further. It pains her as well, knowing that she is hurting him. She turns her back on him, but she doesn’t continue walking. There is silence between the two of them. It’s… Jinki, isn’t it? Gwiboon nods slowly, before diving into the water; disappearing under the waves, ignoring the anguished cries of the boy standing on the beach. Gwiboon is engulfed in a world of blue, and she cannot help thinking that it’s beautiful. Blue, Gwiboon finds herself thinking as her eyes start to close, Jinki always liked blue.
(I’m sorry; but when Jinki died, I died with him.)
