As promised, here's my update on the apartment hunting situation. I've bounced around so much since the beginning of 2008, that I feel I should be getting good at this whole moving thing, but the search for an apartment is limited by my need to be close to Corbin's daycare, and various other amenities, such as grocery stores, bus routes, etc. Since I'm still not working, i'm also impeded by price, as well as my dismal credit rating. So, thus far, I've had little success; i've submitted applications to a few places and either been declined or heard nothing. I wonder is it due to the disability or the lack of income, or both.
I know I can't stress over these things, but it does make me angry. If they would just look past my credit and financial situation, and if they bothered to contact my current and previous landlords, as well as my references, they'd see that I am a responsible person who always pays my bills. My bad credit is due mainly to my student loans, some of which have been forgiven but not all have been.
I'm going to apply to Westgate apartments, which are just up the street from Corbin's daycare, and there's also one on Victoria Road, which would be just a short bus trip away, that looks promising. I'm very tenacious, and i've got it in my head that I don't want to return to Cape Breton, so chances are I will find something, and then I'll wonder what all the fuss was about.
