The much-anticipated follow-up to Danger Boy's Chinese Fireball Hoodie. A simpler design - a black dragon on a red field - but one that I'm working from swatch up with only reference to a few books rather than adapting an existing pattern.
Knit in two pieces, shoulders seamed, sleeves picked up and knit down to the cuffs, sides and underarms seamed, waist band likewise picked up and added afterwards (kids grow; the life of a sweater can be extended if you leave the option to add a narrow panel up the sides/down the arms, then knit it a bit longer at the cuffs and waist...). Cross-over collar with a hood that's knit up so that the dragon can continue past the neckline. I have ideas, as of last night I have rough schematic sketches and half a swatch of yarn. It looks like 6 sts to 8 rws...
I've overbought for the sweater, but that's okay. It is a beautiful yarn (Louet Gems merino superwash), and I might be able to work a second sweater out of the amount I've got (already have ideas - it'll be a riff off sketches Tolkein did of a dragon slayer), plus a shadow scarf of wyverns.
I'm starting on the front of the sweater, hopefully today. ...because what I still don't have is an actual picture for the back *heh* Ah well. I'll get there - lots of graph paper to be printed today, once I figure out my gauge for sure.
