8 Happy Days

Happy Thing #1: Today I shed another knitting albatross. Without any guilt and with a certain degree of relief, I tossed the lace baby blanket I'd begun when we started trying for our third child. It was some beautiful knitting, and would have made a gorgeous project for someone, but there was so much greif and disappointment attached to that project that I just couldn't bear to pick it up.
So now it is gone, and the two unused balls needed to finish it are in my knitting basket. Come the New Year, they'll begin a transformation into pretty lace-and-rib socks for me. So I'll get to keep the yarn, because the colour is amazing (purply-heathered teal), but I no longer associate it with a really hard period of my life.
It's a happy thing.
