Sunday, Sunday...

I'm always surprised at how much of a disaster the kitchen is by Sunday morning. During the week, we keep it reasonably tidy, but on the weekend? O.M.G. There isn't a square inch of cleared countertop, there's food scraps left out in the heat, there's... Well, you get the idea.

I want to bake a cake for Mouse today, so I guess cleaning the kitchen is high priority today. That, and I hate to leave it. My parents babysit for us Mondays and Wednesdays, and I know that if the kitchen isn't clean, my mother will clean it for me. Which on the one hand I'm grateful for, but on the other hand, it's embarassing. How old am I, that I need my Mummy to pick up after me? Ugh.

The grass needs cutting again. Particularly the back yard, as it didn't get cut last week due to rain. Yesterday was so stinky hot that Vilmos wound up in a cold bath trying to cope with heatstroke, so I need to tackle the grass ASAP, to beat the heat.

That, and it's supposed to rain - chance of thunder, and 15-20mm of rain between noon and Monday morning. Which is good; we need the rain. Vilmos got in two rows of peas before he got ill. I hope he gets the rest in - we approach planting differently, so I let him alone in the veggie patch. I'll weed once things are up, but I can never figure out his rows before the seeds sprout.

I've undertaken a challange to live with less stuff, and the first thing I'm going to de-clutter is my yarn stash. I have so much yarn still from when I was knitting for profit, and I simply don't need it. There's no value in having it sit and gather dust (and worse) in the basement; I don't want to be ruled by stuff.

So today, once the thunder chases us indoors and offline, I'll go down and begin by cataloging what I have. Then I'll assign timelines to my projects, and anything that doesn't have a project attached can come to work with me on Thursday (I have the car on Thursdays; I'm not lugging garbagebags of yarn by foot) and get dropped into the donations box.

It's already starting to look steamy out there; I'd best get moving.
