Having seen the difference that it has made for boozymatic, my advice is to most definitely get good-quality, properly fitting braces for your wrists to wear at night. Get them first, find out about coverage later.
VV is planning a pancake lunch on Tuesday. I'm ...stunned. I've never worked anywhere that recognized, let alone celebrated, these sorts of events. Christmas, sure. But Shrove Tuesday?
There's no question that those who decided upon that ust be Christians, but what I find refreshing about it is the humility. You're right, those who don't recognize Lent will only get a free lunch and fellowship out of it, but it's better that way. The politicization of Merry Christmas vs. Happy Holidays irks me.
I hate confrontation - I am dreading calling her. Meh.
It's difficult because you've a conscience; so many in the same sort of circumstances just let it all slide... If you're at peace with yourself when you call, and she gets confrontational, that's her problem. Nobody can get all they want, and when expectations meet realities, they're tipped over. Give somebody reason to form an expectation, and you're imposing one on yourself, even when it's not reasonable to do so -- there's the confrontation that's at the crux of it, for you. Nothing you can do about what you've done, or what she will do, but you can get the fight inside yourself over with.
I just wish I had her email, rather than telephone. I'm so much more comfortable and eloquent in print. ...or maybe I'm just more comfortable...
The biggest problem with a Tuesday pancake lunch, for me, is that I'll feel less enthused about Tuesday's pancake dinner. Less enthused, and certainly less nourished than if I could counter the pancakes and bacon with a big ol' salad...
Braces will help. So would not playing solitaire on the computer for hours on end, y'know? *isadork*
