Hey Lindsey!
First off, you had an amazing weekend of hockey--especially @
Drexel!! You truly stepped up big on penalty kills and general all-
around play. As a coach I can't have asked for much more. It was a
pleasure coaching you this weekend and I hope you had fun!
Coach Nick
E-mails like that one make me really happy. Especailly because of all the hockey-related problems I was facing even a few weeks ago. This message from Nick is a little reminder of why I haven't left yet. I don't know if he sent the entire team emails yesterday, but I should take this one at face value.
I spent the past couple days (early Friday evening until late last night) in the Philadelphia area. I've spent more time in New Jersey than anybody ever should. I'm sore, exhausted, and I have a ton of laundry to do since all my clothes smell. But I would not have given up the weekend for anything.
We played three games this weekend. Against Delaware, Drexel, and the Concord Flames. Long story short, we lost to Delaware (4 - 6), beat Drexel (8 - 7) where two of our rookies scored their first goals in that game, and lost to the Flames (8 - 2).
The win yesterday afternoon was our first league win all year. Tzena promised us a champagne party if we did win, but I think it happened because we were all sick of losing and being the joke in our league. We started out with a 3 - 0 deficit, got up to 7 - 4, us and then our lead got more and more narrow. Luckily we were able to play it safe before the clock ran out.
Unfortunately this game wasn't without casualties as Butzy got a concussion and Kaitlin hurt her knee by overextending it. They're both doing fine now, I believe, but it did suck seeing two of our teammates get hurt.
I'm pretty exhausted now. I've got a babysitting job in two hours and then another one as soon as I finish with the first. I'm anticipating a pretty long day today. But at least I'm doing something, right?
