I just finished watching "The Long Way Round". All I can say is brilliant! If you ever want to get inspired to go traveling, watch this show. I’m extremely nervous about starting to plan this. I'm afraid I'll run out of money, or I'll get robbed or hurt or worse. I'm afraid of doing this on my own, but I think I may need to do this on my own. I think, if I can do this, it will be something that will stay with me forever. Half the fun is not knowing all the answers but discovering the solutions.
I'm not going to put an end date on this, but rather go until I don't want to anymore. This could last a couple of weeks, or a couple of years, who knows? I don't know. All I know is I'm having a MASSIVE urge to do this. Tomorrow I'm going to buy a map and start figuring out all the places I want to go and also all the places where I know people. I'm also thinking of bringing a video camera to document this.
Some of the places I really want to go: Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Greece, and France.
Places where I know people, or may have some sort of contact: Hong Kong, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, France, Denmark, Holland, Vietnam, England, and Poland.
Now I just got to figure out how to make these places fit into a trip and how to get to all of them cheaply and where to start. I already know that Australia will probably be its own trip at a later date, so I can take that off the list already. I've been to England so I don't need to go there too badly. I’d like to work on a ski hill or something for a winter season so Switzerland maybe its own trip too. Who knows though, I don't know where I'd want to be for that, maybe Austria or something.
Hmmm, I must go buy a map tomorrow.
