Hey guys, good to see LJ's back up and running.
So, I get an e-mail from Barnes & Noble earlier this week with a coupon for (among other things) a new exclusive journal collection, that has been designed by Savannah College of Art and Design. They are pretty shiny, see?
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/backtoschool/school.asp?PID=16246&z=y&cds2Pid=9481 Well, I get down there, and there's only the Gryphon Messenger Bag. I ask the girl behind the counter where the journals are to match, and she says 'Are there journals that match?' 'Yes.' 'Let me go find the gift service director.' ( Gift Service Director. If I can't be a Pharaonic Textile Expert, then that's a pretty cool title.) Anyway, it leads to a guy having to go into the back room to dig it out. And he only brings the Gryphon one out. Then, he asks if that was the only one I needed, and I tell him about the green/grey flowered ones, so he goes back to dig those up.
While I wait, I spot the new Weis & Hickman book, the one that comes 'before' Dragons of Winter Night. I hated the one they did that came 'after' Dragons of Autumn Twilight, because it was very repetitive, and they screwed up on their Solamnic. But DoWN was my favorite of the Dragonlance Saga, so I decided to give this one a try.
About this point, the guy comes back with *every* design of journal, and score! They had the other two I was looking for. He decided to put the others on the shelf, and we then all pondered why they would send out a mass e-mail, then not even inform the workers that they were doing this.
I felt kinda guilty having made everyone jump through hoops, but I was very happy with my journals. (I collect them, you see? I have all kinds of awesome journals, but I rarely ever use them, for fear of tainting them with drivel.)
Also, I picked up a TV Guide that has Masi Oka on the front. People love their Hiro, because I got the last one. And this B&N doesn't skimp on magazines.
Saved a little over $14 dollars for being a member. Seriously - become a member. I have never regretted it, but then again, I should keep an apartment at a B&N. I'm a book junkie deluxe.
I'm on page 15 of the new DL book, I really wish they would just jump into the story. But it's not making my teeth itch...badly. (Takhisis would never say '....um....', though.) Although the book that I thought was so beautiful with it's fully black cover (minus blue lettering) under it's sleeve has stained my fingers black. And it won't come off with soap or alcohol. And I can't read a book with a sleeve on it. I'm a book-nudist! Bleh.
Finally, last night was the - I kid you not - 'Dallas Cowboys Training Camp Spectacular'. (So exciting! It will run for fiiiiiiiiiiffffftyyyyyyy yeeeeeeeeeeears!!!) Now, I have been chomping at the bit for about a month for Football, but last night I got a pretty good comedy show. The direction was...interesting. Most of the time, we didn't know who was coming or going, but I do know that 87% of the team stopped off at some store to get matching boogie shorts. And gum.
They were pimping everything, Miller Beer, Ford Trucks, San Antonio..then, with the many mentionings of San Antonio, I turned it into a drinking game. I'm so glad I wasn't using the hard stuff, otherwise I would have been wasted at the end of the hour.
I did enjoy T.O.'s entrance, with his pom-poms. I'm looking forward to the season, and actually watching some football.
In closing, drive your Ford truck to a Barnes & Noble, get a membership card, buy some Savannah College of Art and Design goods, (older) Dragonlance novels, and drink your Miller Beer while you read 'em.
Now I have to go look up show times. I'm going to go see Transformers tomorrow.
