Yes. That's me. I am a traitor.
There was this idea that popped into my head as I was attempting to sleep last night. I got it penned down this morning and was super excited to have
angelps_7read it, until I read her blog and realized that she left me! Well, golly. Go ahead and leave your heart in SF. I'll be doing the same soon enough =]
I was finally able to get the plot bunny to sit still so that I could examine it. And I realized how much leeway I had with the characters, even if I really, really disliked them. I even dislike the side pairing! But I loved my plot.
Setting: Deathly Hallows
Characters: Romilda Vane, Asteria Greengrass, other super minor characters
Sypnosis: In their fourth year, Romilda Vane and Asteria Greengrass have a rivalry and a bet. Because of one stupid argument, they place bets that are higher than either have ever tried to achieve. (If not a bet, then a challenge) Romilda must receive a kiss from Harry Potter, while Asteria strives for a kiss from Draco Malfoy. Both want this task complete by the end of the year. But things have gotten more complicated. Pansy Parkinson intimidates Asteria more than she gives credit. Romilda steals from Slughorn. Asteria sees herself on the seventh floor corridor. Dennis Creevey fancies someone he shouldn't.
What I really wanted within this plot is not so much the romance but the friendship aspect that grows between the two girls. Perhaps they were once friends? Or maybe they grow to become friends/comrads, fighters for their identity to be salvaged from abscurity. But ultimately Asteria wins the bet, nineteen years later. I'd prefer a focus on Asteria because I feel as if she has more potential to grow as a character than Romilda. Romilda will have some sad backstory, which is why she wants to prove herself so much. Romilda has problems keeping friends (Victoria Frobisher- so busy being involved, Dennis Creevey- irritates her, Emma Dobbs). Asteria will have other things on her mind (i.e. Max Baddock- just a friend?, Bobby Vaisey- cute Slytherin Chaser, Cameron Higgs- best friend, and Daphne- her older sister). I want a lot to be going on within the story so that the bet will be only a set off for things to begin happening for the girls. This is the year where their lives begin to change.
And now you see why I'm a traitor. I absolutely hated Asteria the first time I laid eyes on her name (ask my friend skittlehog, I was yelling). But here I am with the ulitimate pairing as Asteria/Draco. Pansy was supposed to be Draco's wife!! Enough with my rant.
Do you think this story has potential?
