Pokémon Story - Prologue
"For the last time, NO!"
"BUT MOM, I'M ALREADY TWELVE. ALL OF MY FRIENDS HAVE BEEN GONE FOR OVER A YEAR."
"Eleanor I cannot believe that would just leave me here, all by myself, to just wait to hear how you died in some far-off land. Like your father. Like your brother."
Ellie trembled and blinked back tears. "Gray's missing. I get that after dad you'd assume the worst, but... I can't just give up on him. I'll find him on my journey."
Ellie's mother frowned. "Honey, your father was a pokémon ranger. He knew what he was doing and he still got killed. We lost him. And then your brother went after him and we lost him too. Don't you see that you're all I have left?"
"I'm sorry mom. I can't just stay here and be a little kid forever. I'm going to Professor Juniper's lab and you can't stop me!"
As she ran out, Ellie could hear her mother's sobs.
