It appears that everything will always happen at one time.
Firstly, I was accepted to a cohort program with Troy University for a Masters of Science in Education. I'm very excited about this. Fortunately, the program is as far from lecture-based as possible, preferring peer-to-peer work and Socratic discussion. Unfortunately, the program of 30 credit hours is shoved into ONE YEAR. This means, perhaps, that I might get a few gray hairs between now and March of next year. :D (Granted, I already have one gray hair! An EYEBROW HAIR. How random is that?!)
Secondly, on April 4th, along with two other Spanish teachers, I will be taking a group of seventeen teenagers to southern Spain and Morocco for a week. And I can happily say that I planned and organized the whole damn thing. Yes, I know, I should have delegated, but I'm too much of a perfectionist. I'm alternately thrilled and nervous as hell. We'll just have to see how that goes.
Thirdly, today, I got the final and official word that I will not only be teaching Spanish next year, but also Music History and the first ever class of Music Technology offered at the school. I get to design the whole program and everything. God, I swear, I was jumping around in the Curriculum office. This is EXACTLY what I have always wanted in a teaching career. I had already felt myself burning out on teaching Spanish over and over again. Now, I get MY OWN TECHNOLOGY LAB, which only I will use! The nerd in me was squealing for a couple of hours. MIDI programs and composition! And then Music History, which I absolutely adore. I finally am able to use my diploma and bring my giant bust of Bach to school.
Fourthly, in two weeks, I will be taking the test that will give me my music certification, so that I may actually be certified when I start teaching music history and technology. (...tee! >_>) I took the on-line practice test today and nailed the theory and listening portion. However, and ironically enough, I was rather ferklempt on individual composers and - ready for this? - asian and middle eastern music. Agnes Scott did have a fabulous world music class, but we basically covered Africa and Australia. The only middle eastern music we studied was that from the Sufi religion, and there was nothing in regards to Asia, I'm sad to say. Seems that I have a bit of cramming to do. (Although, I am rather impressed with my own amount of sheer knowledge on music in general; I haven't looked at anything musical in ages, but it all came back to me so quickly. I guess this might be a testament to the ASC music department, after all.)
Fifthly, WHY THE HELL DO GRAD SCHOOL BOOKS COST SO MUCH? GAH! And why didn't any of my graduate school friends warn me about this? Hmmmm...
weltreisender,
offaithandlove, and
necessary? Leaving all the gruesome details out of your journals, are you? <3
And sixthly, I finally reached my 15-pound mark. It's hard to believe I've lost 5 and 1/2 inches from my waist. Who knew that a simple (yet admittedly radical) change in your diet and life style routine could affect so much change in your body?
Thus concludes my ridiculous flood of Things That Have Happened To Me In The Last Few Weeks. While I'm exceptionally happy, I can't wait until the next dry spell.
