Quick not to journal this first. Ran it at 4" with Chuck in playboat (G-Force) for the first time. Ran the back channel, vice S-Turn because it looked big. It was even bigger than we thought when we viewed it from below Rocky. The back channel was kind of fun but easy. After running the gorge, I felt really solid in the playboat. I MIGHT be fine running S-Turn at that level, but I am not sure. I am starting to see how people run big water in playboats. It was neat to feel every little push of the water.
We parked on Rocky for a while because lightening was hitting everywhere.
Surfing at Wet Bottom was great on river right with multiple waves. Chuck swam because he could not hit his roll even though I was there for a bow rescue. He pulled up too quickly and slipped off my boat then just didn’t have enough air. We were both able to get on the waves there and in the end I was able to stay on for quite a while and even exit on purpose. VA looked like it was surfable, but we kept getting pushed off the waves. Might be able to surf it after some more experience.
Center Chute was in but it looked consequential, as in one might hit rocks if they flipped. The wave did look very ridable though. I might have gave it a shot if I was wearing my full face.
MD Chutes were wild and very difficult to get up to. It might be surfable if one could get up there. We didn't really try too much because we were pretty much ready to call it a day.
