Goalsetting: WRITE MOAR

Jan 16, 2010 13:53

Usually this sort of thing would have been posted the first week of January, but I'm off to a late start.

So one of my goals for this year is to write more, particularly in this journal, which may include going back and creating post-dated entries for some things over the past year, like, say, those wedding updates that never came to be. I was going through and organizing tags in old posts a little while ago (still working on that project) and re-realized how nice it was to have a little log of the past 8 or so years of my life (geez, 8 years??) and that I really should do the same for the big events in 2009 and onward.

I also became acutely aware of how, well, dull or mundane or broken-record my posts have become. Do I seriously have nothing else to talk about other than mooshy love posts, family woes under f-lock or humdrum randomness? I think I do, but fighting the inertia to write thoughtful posts has been a challenge for at least 2 years. So this year I want to try to reverse that trend, with at least once-a-week updates.

However, in the interests of not only documenting things for my own posterity but also talking about things that people find interesting and worth reading, I'd like to ask you, o flist: Is there anything you'd like to see more of from me? When I first started this blogging business I was heavily active in fandom and created a lot of content that was related to my activities there, but these days it's a bit different.

What would you be interested in reading about, aside from life updates? Stuff about what I do for a living in my little corner of adland? Reviews or sporkings of books/movies/TV? Recipes and results from occasional cooking experiments? The return of silly polls? Phone posts? Short stories of Scenes from My Life? Art and design related things? Collections of funny/cool/weird/intriguing linkspam? Something I used to post about that you miss these days? Any or all of the above, or something else?

Will you share your thoughts in the comments?

writing, life
