I thought I'd post a few pictures from our weekend get-away. Mason LOVES the water. Even before he could swim, Mason would spend hours splashing around and generally playing in the water. Here he's found a new way to combine two of his favorite things: reading and swimming:

Back when my youngest brother was in high school and I just out of college, I took him on a camping trip through N. Minnesota, trying to reconnect a little. Rented a boat a few times; he fished, I read, I had better luck than he did.

Years later, I told him of my first (and only) trout fishing expedition, at a pottery school in Nevada. "Oh yeah?" he said, "What were you reading?" Refused to believe that I'd actually caught, you know, fish.
