Fly and dine, and fly again! (G+ crosspost)

Today's random adventure, bought to you by Air NZ Grab-a-Seat's way cheap fare: Taupo.

Flying both ways AKL-TUO is the Beech 1900D twin turboprop, with a front row seat right behind the cockpit. It was way too cool getting the "pilot's view" as we take off, climb to the cruising altitude of 16000 feet, descend down the cloud layer, lining up for final approach and land.

This is one of the reasons I love flying. Perhaps I should aim to get a license in within the next decade...

Had a good 7km walk into town from the airport, and stopped past a cafe owned & run by a friend of mine to catch up and get brunch.

Asked how hungry I felt, "fairly" was my response. Try their house specialty he said, and thus the choice was decided.

What arrived in front after a brief wait, is now on top of my all-time favourite breakfast/brunch dish: Egg's Benedict, with confit pork belly sitting on top of house-made potato rosti. Melt in your mouth tender pork, oozy egg yoke with perfectly crispy yet fluffy potato. This dish is simply refined elegance.

Not a bad way to spend a Saturday.
