Netflix movie
Nostaglia for the Light (Documentary, Chile, 2010)
Writer/Director: Patricio Guzmán
This film combines the Atacama Desert Observatory with the aftermath of the Pinochet reign mass murders. In the desert while the astronomers chart the heavens, women who have lost loved ones walk slowly across the dry landscape looking for scraps of bone to find where the graves of their husbands, sons, daughters, grandchildren may be.
Guzman narrates and some of the scientists and women talk but there's a lot of silence and outstanding camera work.
Worth watching.
The phones and servers were still down when I left work on Thursday. It seems that Public Works had cut the fiber optics cable and everything had to be replaced. Very slowly. I had to write two checks out by hand because they absolutely had to go in the mail.
I used some vacation hours to leave early a couple of days because nothing to do. But then I said screw this, and got a book from the small library they have at work. So I read about 7/8 of The Clerk's Tale by Margaret Frazer. That I stuck with it mostly says it all. It's a mystery set in the 1400s and part of a series. Frazer stretches things out a bit and I got the feeling of I Did Research sometimes but I want to finish it.
I decided to make a list of my cds, like I did the movies and tv dvds and put it in the memories. I'm putting them on mps. It's a long job.

I've changed my LJ background three times in the last week. The white background is too hard on my eyes. Now I have a soft green Japanese one that reminds me of cherry blossoms. I'm told via the internet it's connected to some sort of card game.
