Anime Boston 2009
Went to Anime Boston this weekend. It was okay. Other years have been way better. It felt off this year. Like we were waiting all weekend for the con to really start. There was a definite drop in cosplay, which is my favorite part. Programming was really light too. We did go to more panels than we have in past years, which was nice. Also, the panels we went to were all pretty good, unlike in previous years where we walked out of more than one. But overall it was a disappointment.
It started off on the wrong foot too when the 2 bed room we had booked back in January was changed to a king size bed and a cot. We were NOT happy. On the plus side they upgraded us to the Club level which included access to the Lounge and free breakfast and afternoon appetizers. But we would much rather have had two beds.
The AMV's (anime music videos) have really been declining in quality over the last couple of years too. The Dealer's Room was a waste of time; there wasn't anything I couldn't get locally or on-line cheaper.
So, overall I rate AB 2009 "Meh".
Let's hope next year is better.
