yesterday, with almost no forewarning*, i successfully salted a password and sanitized some sql inputs in php.
it was, honestly, thrilling.

it's possible i might be learning something here this semester. although the lectures are a fair amount slower than last semester, they still do a remarkably efficient job of covering all the relevant vocabulary and concepts, and giving you a very broad (if simplified) subset of the relevand coding experience. i might possibly be able to sound like a cs person by the end of the semester. without, you know, having to learn everything entirely on my own by trial and error. how very clever of them :-)

*(and no previous web programming experience. -smiles- totally capable of looking up sample code on google and using built-in functions though. i begin to suspect that web-programmers may have a lot in common with reference librarians.)
