[RL WITH SIRIUS]

Aug 05, 2010 15:49

Remus sat in his living room, on the sofa next to the fireplace, waiting for Sirius to come over. He'd invited him, which was why he was expecting him, having finally found a time where they were both free, and they weren't being cornered by James, and the full moon wasn't going to happen for a while yet, and so the two of them had time to just be ( Read more... )

Sirius was incredibly lucky that his parents hadn't grounded him for the whole summer yet. Somehow, they managed not to notice that Remus had been there when he'd been cat-eared, and remained similarly oblivious about him going to see James. He hoped he was lucky again.

When he walked out of the fireplace, he wore a cheeky smile. "'llo there. Long time no see."

Remus looked up, standing to greet his friend when Sirius appeared. Contrary to everything that was going through his head, all of his worrying and stressing about James and Lily and Peter and Sirius, as soon as Sirius walked into his life with that big, cheeky smile, Remus's world automatically brightened. And that's when it struck Remus that wow. He had it bad. He really had it bad.

"Hey, Pads. Ehm, welcome to my place," he said, gesturing around his living room. It wasn't fancy, and it was outdated, and it was a strange mixture of the wizarding and Muggle worlds, but it was his, and he wanted to share it with the boy in front of him.

Sirius glanced around the room, taking it in. It looked nothing like his house, which, in his mind, was a good thing. "Your house looks nice," Sirius said cheerfully, stepping further out from the fireplace. Looking back at Remus, he grinned. "So, what wacky misadventures do you have in mind for today?"

Remus laughed and shook his head at Sirius's choice of words. "No wacky misadventures, I'm afraid. The only thing I've got here is the creek out back. And I mean, well. The grounds. The weather's nice, and the grounds are pretty much the best thing about being here, so. I mean, we've got quite a bit of land. It's... It's better not to have neighbors around asking questions, you know? And the only way not to have neighbors is to own the land, so. We do."

"Makes sense!" Sirius raised his hand in a mock salute, as if Remus were a commander about to lead him to battle. "Well, if that's the case, lead the way to your creek-slash-grounds, then!"

Remus laughed and shook his head. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves, here. We're going to need towels, Pads. And you're going to need swim trunks. Unless..." Remus blushed, realizing that his friend might have absolutely no problem with just swimming nude in the water. Might even prefer it, feel more masculine or something ridiculous like that. It really wouldn't help Remus at all, though.

"Unless I felt like being totally ridiculous and swimming naked? Which is the best way to swim, I may add," Sirius said, cheekily.

Remus rolled his eyes. "You know, I've never been swimming with you, but I knew that you would say something like that anyway." He shook his head. "In all seriousness. Do you want me to find you trunks, or are you going to...be totally ridiculous and swim naked?" he asked, before raising his hands up in front of him. "Your words, not mine. And anyway, Pads. You can swim, can't you?"

"Moony, when in doubt, I always take the more ridiculous option," Sirius said cheekily. "And yes, I can swim. Dad made me and Regulus take lessons ages ago in case, I dunno, we were attacked by zombies and had to swim to avoid drowning or whatever."

Remus raised an eyebrow at the reason that Sirius gave for swimming lessons, but knowing what he'd heard about Sirius's parents and having seen their strict personages from across the train station, he didn't find it that hard to believe. "Right, then. I'll... I guess I'll just get us towels, then." Lord help him, he was going to have to deal with Sirius swimming nude before the reveal that he planned on doing. It almost made him want to back down from saying it, but he didn't want to have to gather up the courage to do this again, and he couldn't keep it a secret any longer. It would be too exhausting.

"We're... We're lucky that my parents aren't around, then," he said, blushing as he grabbed a pair of towels from the linen closet in the hallway. "You might just scandalize my mum, with that sort of attitude about things." He made his way to the back door. "C'mon, it's this way." And he opened his back door onto the expansive, forest grounds behind his house.

"I'm progressive! One day everyone will like running around naked, you'll see!" Sirius chuckled before stepping out of the back door. His eyes went wide for a second as he glanced about, before proclaiming, "Wow! You really do have a lot of grounds!"

Remus shook his head. "I don't know about that, Pads. I don't think you'll ever find me running around naked with the rest of you hooligans..." Remus had far too much self-consciousness for that. Just taking off his shirt in front of the others was a big thing for him; this swimming thing would be one of the only times he'll have ever taken his shirt off and kept it that way for any span of time. He hoped Sirius would appreciate the fact that he was going through all the effort he could so that his visit could be as comfortable and entertaining as possible.

"Yeah, well. No neighbors to snoop around, this way. Plenty of places for me to explore as I am now. On the full, though, well..." Remus motioned to a shed out by the edge of the trees, a little ways off to the left of the path that they were heading towards.

Sirius winced inwardly at the idea of Moony getting locked in a shed once every month; it'd be one thing if he was allowed to roam the grounds, but he could only imagine that it would be too dangerous. "That...that sucks," Sirius said, not as eloquent as he'd like to be. "But I guess there isn't a way to let you roam around during the full without it being risky."

Remus shrugged. "No, there really isn't. It's alright, though. I'm not here that much of the year, anyway." He continued to lead Sirius across the grounds towards the path into the woods. "It's this way. Only a little bit in. Here," he said, handing Sirius a towel and draping his own towel over his shoulder. "You might not want to wear trunks, but at least have a towel, to dry off with, if nothing else. I won't let you back into the house if you decide you'd rather go roll in the leaves or something instead."

Sirius let out a barking laugh. "I've never tried rolling in leaves! I'll have to remember that for some other time," he said with a cheeky grin. And then, with a whoop sounding a bit like a war cry, Sirius started jogging down the path towards the creek. "Come on, Moony!" he said, managing to dispose of his shirt as he went.

Remus rolled his eyes, but easily picked up the pace behind Sirius, stopping to grab Sirius's shirt with a blush before easily catching up with him again. "There," he said, pointing around the corner, where a happy little country creek big and clean enough to swim in burbled across the forest floor. "It's not much, but the water's nice, especially at this time of a year, and..." He realized that his friend probably wasn't listening to him at all, and hoped that Sirius would be okay with a serious conversation with him later. He... He really needed to get this out.
