a few days ago (i've lost count), i left singapore. i honestly cant describe how i felt then...
有点麻木吧,有点累,什么也不想理,背着重重的背包,拖着胖胖的行李。还有带着厚厚的爱,谢谢那些那么晚都来送机的朋友还有我挚爱的家人。it felt so surreal!
oh and it was really cool to "travel back in time" cos i left sg at 0055, aug 10, but reached colombo at 945 aug 9! still celebrating national day! how patriotic. haha i was supp to fly to dubai, but had an unexpected stopover at colombo. apparently they nv write it out =X
arrived at paris, and was awed by the weather, la langue, and the chic yet oldish feel of the city. our hostel was full, so we had to lug our luggages to another nearby hostel, which was actually a 5 min walk but cos we got lost (the streets aren't perpendicular and i couldn't figure out what go straight means) we walked in circles. didn help that i was lugging a 25 kg luggage with 6 kg backpack. was a great relief to reach paris rome. it had an oldish lift, where u have to open the lift door yourself. so it was a chore to get up to our rooms, and i opened the lift door to pitch black darkness. had to fumble to find the switch. i'm so used to things being automatic or brightly lit! then we squeezed through a narrow passageway to our puny room. i'm not kidding, it's just abt as much space as u can move in n out. in the toilet i constantly knock at the sink or the showers=|
so the very next morning we had a nice parisien petit dejeuner, complete with croissant and baguette and chocolat chaud(hot choc)
YUM. so with that we walked around paris the whole day, sans public transport. walked till my feet died and reborned but it was worth it cos the scenery and weather rocks (tho it was quite erratic, rainy then sunny) strolled along la seine, went to notre dame, le caroussel and louvre. got lost in louvre (they had reconstructions and stairs were closed) and i looked desperately for a toilet but it took super long to find one. same goes for rest of europe, toilets are scarce! =(
after all that we decided to take the metro. it felt so deja vu to do the same thing i did 6 yrs back: composter (feed?!) the ticket. got to champs elysee, walked around triangle d'or (golden triangle, most expensive of all paris) and couldn afford anything, not even the toilet, which costs 2 euro to enter. =.= then we walked till la tour eiffel. it took abt more than 1 hr to get tickets, another hr to get up, so by the time we were at the summit, it was 9+ alr. the scenery is as usual, breathtaking, and at 9plus paris was still rather bright. waited till it turned dark.. it was freezing up there, felt like artic temperature. when we got down, the food was nearly sold out so there was only fries. quite unsatisfying, i either get little food to eat or i get too much at once (thanks to their portions)
last day. went to la poste and galerie lafayette, got lost with claire tho it was a straight road (as i said their roads aren really straight) so bof! was in a frantic run, dashed here and there, cos i booked the taxi to airport at 11, but i was still running my 'marathon' then!! so found the hotel finally, the lady looked quite angry but thankfully managed to get to airport on time. to find out that... my flight's delayed. they said for 50 min, but the delay went on for more than 1 hr and there was no announcements. so i just sat there and stared at this uber cute french baby across me and ate yet another cold meal (i miss the hot stuffs asians normally eat already) my flight was to stockholm with connecting one to lulea, which we managed to catch only just on time cos they were waiting for us.
away from home for the next 5 mths or so, reality is beginning to feel like reality.
