I taught my last class of the semester yesterday. I really liked that class, but I was ready to be done. Next week, they have exams and then I have to grade the exams, but then I get a few weeks off before I begin summer school. During that time, I really need to work on this talk I'm giving in the end of June.

Instead, I watch a lot of Scrubs on ( Read more... )

I thought about contacting you. The thing is, I'd do better with a TB than a SB. But if you have leads for me, I'm listening...

but maybe that's not the right way to think. I just understand the ott TBs and how to ride them. But a skinny horse in need of food and TLC is a skinny horse in need of food and TLC. Let's keep thinking about this.

You could take one of my broken down companions... or one of my sound but not likely to be adopted oldies. Other than the fact that their gaits are different quality-wise, there's not a whole lot of difference in riding one or the other.

I AM INCAPABLE OF LEAVING SHORT COMMENTS. Gah.

I actually know a thoroughbred looking for a home. I'd take him myself if I could, but I really, really can't. He's healthy and sane and basically Ozzy in a TB's body (with nicer gaits and natural talent). Located in North Jersey. I'm sure she'd ship him to you and take him back if it didn't work out. She says he needs regular work to keep his stifle from getting stiff, but she'd be willing to pay for injections to make him 100% sound. He's great for riding as is, but doesn't need a job to stay sane. I don't know what you're looking for EXACTLY, but I know lots of non-stb horses who could use a place to go (and they're the ones I can't help myself). No pressure of course, just brain storming.

Here's the thing: I can't really foster a horse until July. I have a big presentation in the end of June and we have to rebuild Rosie's stall. (The owner took down a wall to get Rosie out of her stall when she died). At that point, I would happily take a horse in need of fostering. You *know* I can give a horse good care, and would love to see someone get fat and healthy under my care. If I can also do some riding, all the better. But the really important part would be seeing the horse get placed in a great forever home and knowing I paid Rosie's love forward.

Keep thinking - just aim for July or so.

I will have horses in July too ;) The thoroughbred is not a rush situation, so he'll probably still be around. You could DEFINITELY ride him while he looked for a forever home. In any case, drop me a line when the time comes if you don't find something more local :)
