Hey, it's been a while, huh!

So, I apologize to all my friends who've been dying to hear about all the stuff going on in my wonderful life lately, all zero of you, but hey at least let me humor myself.

I've had a wonderful what month or so since I've last posted. My cousins wedding back home was awesome, I had a great time in the wedding party, seeing my friends and family, and gettin' down at the reception! I love to dance even though I am terrible at it and look like a dork, I just don't care when the music is turned up, I get lost.

I've played bass a couple of times with the youth worship band, it's been a lot of fun. I missed playing in a group badly the last couple of years since coming to Florida for school. Most of the group is pretty raw, other than the leader, I myself and more rusty than anything but hey, we have made a lot of progress in just a few weeks. I get a break this week as they are going to youth camp this next week. I get to lead in 2 weeks or so, be praying for me, this will be a new experience for me, but I'm excited!

Work is going well, we are really stepping things up at Exxact, business has been good, we had a great first quarter. This makes my financial/operational reporting meetings go much smoother with the boss!

Let's see what else is going on...

I got my hair cut yesterday morning, normally this is very stressful as the last couple of times I've tried to find a decent hairdresser in Lakeland, each has failed miserably. In Michigan, I had a great hair stylist, I swear she could read my mind when I went to her, it was always the perfect look and simple to achieve. So anyway, I went to this lady back in August once, and then just to see what else was out there I went to another person a couple of times (I totally wasted my money, I swear I paid $35 for a haircut that look like it came from someone who should only charge $10, but after the hair cut yesterday I think I will stick to this one, plust she gives about a $35 dollar hair cut for only $10. So now I can look great like I did in MI, and it fits in my budget!

Last night we had an open mic night for the youth at Oasis, we call it the Warehouse, basically it is a coffee house setting with a small cover charge for the students. There's atmospheric lighting, music, cozy seating, and games like air hockey, foosball, and pool. We set up for that all day yesterday after I got my haircut, then I had to go shopping for items to sell in the cafe, I went to Sam's Club and bought all kinds of pop, candy bars, and chips, and spent about $200 in the process. I filled up a whole flatbed cart, and man I got my workout pulling that thing around! It was absolutely crazy in Sam's being that it is Memorial Day Weekend, I never wanna go in there on a holiday weekend ever again. After that was done I had just enough time to shower up and look amazing for the evening! I'd say the open mic night was successful, and about 40 students showed up, and more than half of them had never been to Oasis or the Crave before. We had a couple of the guys from the worship team play individually, two of them played American Idiot, twice in the same hour is too much. Then Wes played, he did a great job as usual. Then we had a hardcore/screamo band called Chasity Well Armed play, I personally don't really get into the whole screamo stuff, but they did play well and I was impressed by their talent, and the lead singers ability to scream. It wasn't exactly the kind of music our youth group listens to, they are just a tad bit more mainstream than this.

Speaking of the whole music issue, growing up there were a lot of great Christian artists that had some great CD's, I love Newsboys earlier stuff and anything else produced by Steve Taylor (he's a genius), Audio Adrenaline, some DC Talk. These kids haven't experienced any of that classic stuff. The only Christian group they recognize is Switchfoot and only their stuff from Beautiful Letdown and a few songs from the movie A Walk to Remember, and this is only because of MTV and mainstream radio. So I will make it a goal of mine to introduce these kid to the classics I grew up listening too, old skool is cool right????

Today was a great day, we talked about Stamina (staying power) today at Oasis, a good message, and encouragement to keep on keepin' on when things get rough in life, and remember God is there with you still and seeing you through even though you feel like He's a million miles a way and the goosebumps are gone. After service we had our first Family Table with the students in the youth group, this is an opportunity for us to further discuss the days message with the students and enjoy some time in fellowship and learning what's going on in their lives. It went well, and I think the students enjoyed it. We hope to do this 1 Sunday a month, I think it will be good.

Earlier this evening, I caught a movie with Ginger from Oasis, we decided on The Longest Yard, I am a sucker for Adam Sandler movies, it was hilarious, however 50 First Dates and The Wedding Singer are my favorites of his. Afterward we went for dinner to Crispers. It was nice to be able to catch up with her and talk about our crazy lives, jobs, and crushes. I love hanging out with Ginger, she is a riot. Speaking of her, I totally miss our ladies small group. I kinda had to take a back seat from it since my involvement began with the Crave. However, they miss me so much, they changed the meeting night to Mondays so I can be a part of things again. So next Monday I get to hang with my girls again, I'm pumped!

I guess that is it for now, I will try to update more frequently so those of you who actually read this junk, don't feel like you're starting a novel! Have a great evening, and enjoy the rest of your Memorial (extra day off) Weekend!!!
