I have never been to Dragon Con before and neither has my husband, despite his geek credentials. This year we are thinking about going because 1. The chick from MythBusters will be there and she is on Clay's List, possibly in the top 5. and 2. I have a 3 year old who is OBSESSED with all things Star Wars. Seriously obsessed to the point he carries an invisible light saber with him at all times. I think it would be neat for him to see all of the people dressed as Star Wars characters.
So, my question is, how family friendly is Dragon Con? By that I mean are kids welcome (my kids are well behaved and pretty laid back) and can it be frightening for small ones? I have a 5 month old who probably won't care about what he sees but the 3 year old can get scared about some things. For example, we rented "Night at the Museum" for Nicholas and the dinosaur coming to life scared him, BUT there isn't much in the Star Wars movies that scare him (other than the creation of Vader at the end of the 3rd movie). I don't mind the 3 year old seeing boobage but I would like to avoid him seeing out and out gore.
So, what you do you think? We don't want to spend the money for a ticket and have Nicholas cowering in fear the entire time. At the same time we don't want to be unable to go to different rooms/areas etc. because we have kids.
Thoughts? Opinions?
