Today is winter solstice, the first day of winter, the shortest day of the year.
Also, two years ago today we learned the title of the seventh Harry Potter book when JK Rowling posted it on her site as a hang man game. (Which I couldn't solve and had to cheat by reading the answer on a fansite. In my defense I got the "Harry Potter and the" part right, and it's not like Deathly or Hallows are common words.) The fact that I remember this is.... um, ridiculous pathetic impressive.
Anyway, this sparked a million theories involving solstices and hangman. Both of which turned out to have no bearing on the plot of Book Seven which did not surprise me. The most popular one I remember was that the seventh/final book would be released on June 21 because in OOTP, when they are in the Department of Mysteries one of the random lines heard from a breaking prophecy is "and on the solstice will come a new and none will come after" or something like that.
deathly hallows,
