i gave into the masses.
i went to see 'the davinci code'
my review is not good. a horribly adapted version of the book, the movie outlined all the main events, but left out a significant amout of small but important details. the characters lacked depth, and thier onscreen chemistry was non existent. there was no character development beyond captain fache realizing his bishop had decieved him, which im pretty sure never even happened in the book. i'll have to read it again to be sure. the weak attempts to illustarte each characters past by using flashbacks was a hoakey old-filmish type picture with hoakey actors and overeggagerated actions. the producers were so anxious to get the movie out and make it a blockbuster, they didn't spend enough time plotting the story and working in important logistical details. granted, if they were to include all of the flashbacks and character storylines the movie would easily go over six or seven hours.
that said, here is the main point: if you have read the book, you are dissapointed in the movie. but if you havent read the book, you have trouble understanding the movie. its a lose-lose situation.
my advice; if you really want to see it, i suggest a tuesday matinee. that way you only waste 6 bux (plus the two and a half hours of your life you will never get back.
read the book. its a thousand times better.
