The Anachronism

Gearing up for a really big weekend in New York City!!

Today, Noam and I are going to explore Sunnyside, Queens to see whether we like the neighborhood. It's really close to where we live in Brooklyn right now - just across the creek - so it's be an easy move and the rents are right.

In the evening we're going to a housewarming, in Astoria, I believe. For one of Noam's friends who I haven't met yet. I'm looking forward to it!

Tomorrow is the Big Apple Tweed Ride. Tons of tweed-loving folk with their vintage bicycles will converge on Prospect Park to ride in style! I haven't a bike here in NY yet (bummer) so I'm going to meet Noam et al at the post-ride social for drinks.

Then, in the evening, is what so far promises to be the largest Steampunk event I've ever attended. I speak of The Anachronism, where almost 600 people have RSVP'd on facebook as attending (roughly 1000 "maybes"). My brain boggles a bit at the thought that that many steampunks may exist at any one time in one location.

Noam and I weren't going to go, instead favoring frugality and not spending anything we don't absolutely need to (we're both committed to getting our own place ASAP), however, one of the organizers expressed an interest in using a photo that we are in for promoting the event and offered us free passes in return! HELLZ YEAH! Even if the photo is so not flattering of me, it's still worth it.

I have a lot of wardrobe decisions to make!! Off to play dress up!
