[Action: 463 Stone St.]

[Just outside the house, it seems like one Mr. Locria was indulging in what seemed to be one of his hobbies: making doors. Fassad gathered pieces of wood together, purchased from the tool store, and began cutting out what would be the foundation to a proper door. The only problem with this scenario is that he isn't much of ( Read more... )

[With a ruckus like that, it can't go unnoticed by one of Fassad's neighbors. Gat's busy with finishing repairing the damage done to the house during last month's zombie outbreak when he overhears Fassad flipping out. He glances toward Fassad's house a few times, and when he finishes with his current task, he dusts his hands off and walks on over.]

[So now, Fassad, you have a human-sized Autobot CAST standing on the sidewalk outside your house, watching you with a stance that suggests he's curious, despite having no face with which to express that feeling.

Howdy, stranger. You need help with that there door?

[Oh, and don't mind the mechanical echo in his voice.]

What makes you think that I-

[And as Fassad turns over to Gatt, well... needless to say, he's surprised. Surprised enough to drop the hammer he was holding which, well, might work for his own safety actually.

He's gasping a little for breath. Even Porky's technology didn't seem as advanced as this... person(?) seemed.]

O-oh, m-my... Wh-what in Pork are you!?

[By now Gat's met a lot of people who've never seen androids like him-but their reactions never cease to be amusing, and the same goes for Fassad's. Even though he chuckles good-naturedly in response to Fassad's question, he's inwardly glad that the guy didn't wind up dropping the hammer on his toe or something.]

I'm an android; my body's designed to replicate a lot of th' same functions as th' human body. Back where I'm from, we're called CASTs.

[Gat approaches Fassad and offers to shake his hand.]

Name's Falk Gatt, though most folks jus' call me Gat.

[Oh, gosh, it's not going to break if he shakes it, would it? Fassad stretches out his arm, but it takes him a few moments before he decides to trust Gat enough to shake his hand. Please don't break, please don't break.]

An... droid... Oh, those half-machine, half-person things that are so popular these days. They're almost like a chimera, just not with animals. Name's Fassad.

You're thinkin' more about cyborgs, there. I ain't half-machine so much as a person that's built instead of born.

[Whether Fassad was worried about breaking Gat's arm or his own, neither happens! Gat's grip is pretty firm, but not painfully or bone-crushingly so. In fact, despite wearing a black bodysuit with all that ceramic armor covering him, shaking Gat's hand won't feel much different from shaking a human's-though there's some subtle differences in how Gat's arm "feels" while they shake hands that will betray his synthetic, android nature.]

[And far be it for Fassad to really listen to what those scientists were saying to him. He had to admit that it was a relief that his hand wasn't crushed at all by now. It seemed fairly normal surprisingly. In fact, come to think of it, Gat's speech wasn't especially mechanical either. It sounded human. Not even the empire could have managed that achievement nor was it interested in doing so.]

A-ah. Bah, as if we needed hundreds of different names for robots. If you're the type of android that can help build doors, then I might as well ask for some help. ... Not that I needed much. I didn't.

It's an important distinction for some.

[Gat isn't offended at all, since Mayfield is full of people who have never seen androids, or even robots for that matter. He glances over to the door for a second.]

Carpentry ain't what I'm used to doin', but there's a lot about livin' here I've had to learn. You jus' tell me where you could use an extra pair of hands an' I'll be happy to help.
