I injured myself a little this afternoon. It was but a scratch, a bleeding lip. I was trying to move the TV forward so I could insert the cable from the DVD player to the back. The widescreen cathode-ray-tube TV was too big for the shelf, so the front part was already jutting out, and the back of the TV touched the wall. Not only that, this TV was exceptionally heavy. This was a precarious arrangement that I made worse.
When I moved the TV too far, it started falling forward, screen down. I moved as quickly as I could to save the fall, and hit my lower lip on my upper teeth. The lower-left corner of the TV collided with the floor.
"Fuck," I said to myself, "how am I going to get this back up?"
I turned the TV off, it was turned on to test whether the DVD player worked (it didn't). I knew it was too heavy for me to lift, but I had an idea. I would lift one side first and put it on the shelf, then left the other side and push the TV back in. It was cumbersome, but I succeeded.
I went to check myself in the bathroom and saw a spot of blood on my lower left lip. It was numb for fifteen minutes, but the sensation returned.
I didn't succeed in my objective, which was to plug the DVD player in. I guess it will take turns with the PlayStation 2 using the same ports, which is on the side. I want to use the DVD player instead because it's easier to navigate using the fast forward and reverse button than to hold down R2.
