I'm super excited that I'm on vacation in 3 days!
School is nothing but fun right now, since the kids have been on their best behavior. Hopefully they realize how much fun we can all have when people are nice to each other and follow the rules. (My rules are not power driven- shut up and do it- rules. They keep people from getting hurt and useful stuff from being destroyed. Ya'll know how I do.)
Today we were measuring beans and rice for them to figure out the whole fractions as a part of a whole thing, and one of my students said, "This is fun!" while she was digging in. That makes me SO happy. The trick is that they reflect on what and why we are doing what we're doing. Its hard to break in on noise to give some directions and guide their process. I also get pissy when I have to repeat myself, so we all have to figure out each other's deal and then we finally get along.
I love psycho-social experiments.

I think Abraham Lincoln said something like, Whatever you are, be the best there is. I saw it embroidered on a throw pillow in Debbie's house. That needs to be above my cassroom door.
I'm in one of those positive- everything is great now moods. This makes me a bit nervous.

when E's mom and dad were in I totally raved across a street by the graveyard in front of a car that was blasting some super cheesy house song! It was so unce-unce-unce-unce that I couldn't , FUCK THAT, DIDN'T WANT TO help myself. I spun around, pumping my fist in the air.
