Should madness have 2 d's?
Anyway. My school is a mess. We were on the news this week b/c all of our positions have been vacated. This means I am still contracted to the district, but I have to apply and interview for my own job, in the classroom that I just packed and moved to a new building, all by myself, the day before they told me I don't have a job. Thanks.
If I don't get hired back, which I am confident that I will, I will be 'Administratively placed' at a new school with a vacancy. No matter what the grade, location, or principal's opinion of me. That should go over well.
So whatever. No matter where I will be, I will be teaching, so it isn't the end of teh world, but I do feel bad for our kids at Spencer, who have no idea if they will see their favorite teachers again. I told a lot of kids I would be back, and enjoyed a lot of hugs as a result, so I need to be allowed back, or shame on the administration. The news said, 'shake up to benefit children' which couldn't be a bigger slap in the face. Those kids have been shaken since birth. This is the last thing they need. My only hope is that people are hired who truly want to be there and are willing to do what it takes.
My whole life, when someone has told me that I can't do something I am driven to prove them wrong. They said they are dissolving us b/c we didn't meet the goals set by standardized testing in the 05/06 school year. Now they need 'the best and brightest' to work for Spencer. That really made us mad. Fighting mad.
I applied for my job last night b4 going to Forsythe to see/hear Ziggy Marley play. I met a handful of great teachers from Heard Elem., which was described to me as the Spencer of the West. This made me feel liek a witch and I liked it. We drank and cackled together until Eric stumbed off to the port-a-potty never to return.
After about 45 mins I called him and went looking for him. He was 8 blocks NW of us. The port-a-potties had been 1/2 block E, but he went on an adventure to find an alley in a crowded neighborhood, highly patrolled by police and lost his way. So I missed Ziggy completely. This is not the first time E has wandered off during a concert. We may have to look into some type of concealed bladder device for him in the future.
Tomorrow I leave for Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Monticello. I CAN"T WAIT to see the gardens at Monticello. Thanks to daddy, I now have a brand spankin' Cannon digital Rebel xTi. We will get better acquainted on this journey, since we only just met last Wednesday.
Well, more on the trip and my job prospects when I return.
Keep it real, cause I am keeping it real.
