so restless.

I've been posting non-stop this week, and it's because I'm full of an angry-swarm-of-bee-like nervous energy. I just want to get going! Sally forth!

Currently, I'm waiting for John McBeth, president of The Brazos Transit District, to get back to me on my questions regarding the Conroe Park and Ride. What I'd rather be doing right now is, I don't know, setting my desk on fire? GET ME THE HELL OUTTA HERE.

I just tried to placate that feeling by deleting all the computer files I no longer need and that will really serve no one else. That wasn't quite as satisfying. Tomorrow is my last day, and it's a late shift (boo) from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., wherein I will meet Dr. Adams, the man the movie "Patch Adams" was based upon, at a fundraiser for his foundation. Meh. I'm pretty bored of covering fundraisers, no matter who's throwing them or how fabulous they are. I really wish I could just call in sick, but I'd hate to do that to the other Saturday reporter...my guilty conscience wouldn't let me do it regardless.

I think my favorite part of tomorrow will be packing all my stuff into a box and tossing all of the copious amounts of paperwork stuffed into every nook and cranny of my desk into the recycling bin. Clean slate! Funny how this was my least favorite part of leaving The Galveston County Daily News. I so wanted to be able to stay, but move all my stuff to a reporter desk, but it just wasn't in the cards there. As a result, I felt inordinately sad as I packed my belongings. Somehow I don't think that will be the case here. I don't feel any kind of alligiance to the staff here. They're nice people, but we never grew close.

The purging mentality has gripped me at home too; I'm throwing a moving sale on Sunday and hope to get rid of pretty much anything and everything that isn't nailed down or doesn't have significant value to me and Fred. Did you know that we have four record players? Two don't even work. I still have some boxes from college full of completely irrelevent stuff. I refuse to lug around this stuff with me for yet another move. I'm sort of sad to part with our faux green leather couch, because it's so awesome in it's own way, but I am looking forward to something that's more comfy and doesn't have tears. It's pretty huge too, and sort of unwieldy for most of the small Houston apartments we've been looking at. If we sell all of it, that will leave us with a bed, two heavy-ish dressers, three light side tables, a lightweight kitchen table, five light wooden chairs, an ottoman, and three lightweight cases (book, DVD, CD) to move. Not bad. Our new place will be a little sparse for a while, but that's fine with me. We'll soon be able to populate it with you know, stuff that isn't mismatched, worn or oddly sized.
