July 26, 2006 - The Council of Fashion Designers of America announced yesterday the finalists for the third annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund initiative. Selected from a field of 101 candidates, those who made the cut are accessory designer and recent Swarovski Perry Ellis Award winner Devi Kroell, jewelry designer Justin Giunta of Subversive Jewelry, menswear designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright of Rag & Bone, and womenswear designers Phillip Lim of 3.1 Phillip Lim, Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra of Costello Tagliapietra, Doo-Ri Chung of Doo.Ri (another Swarovski Perry Ellis Award winner), Jovovich-Hawk's Milla Jovovich and Carmen Hawk, Marchesa's Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte, and Thakoon Panichgul of Thakoon.
Aren't we excited! So maybe I'll be staying with him through the spring 07 presentation after all ... I mean, I don't have health insurance but they are getting me a laptop with CS2 (!!!), and I do go to all of the fabric appointments with Italian mills in his place for sourcing, not to mention design pieces of the collection from his direction. Today I went to an appointment for Bacci who normally does exclusives with Gucci, Stella McCartney, Etro, etc. to look at cashmeres, wools, alpacas and camel hairs. It got me excited for fall! (by far my favorite season to design for.)
