How awful to know that nasty ol' Destiny is just around the corner, getting ready to pounce on the poor, hopeful whelp.

You'll be happy eventually, Will, but it's going to take a while.

Yes ... that Destiny broad is a cold-hearted b*tch, ain't she? ;-)

You'll be happy eventually, Will, but it's going to take a while.

But, oh, what he'll have to go through before then ... poor thing!

Thank you for all your Comments, for this and the rest of my drabbles! I always value your feedback, and it's nice to know you're still out there reading my scribblings! :-)

Yes, life and Fate is set to teach him some harsh lessons anon ... and that Destiny trollop is in the wings, too, waiting to waylay him ... :-(

Thank you for all the lovely Comments for this and the rest of my drabble series! Much appreciated! :-)

From all the characters it was perhaps Will who wished for such a mad whirlpool of adventures least

Yes. All he wanted was to marry the girl he loved, maybe find his father, and settle down to a simple, happy life of making swords (and babies?) and taking care of his family. He never banked on that Destiny thingy (and that bastard, Cutler Beckett) throwing a spanner in the works ...

yet he got right in the middle of it, ending up with such an odd happy ending...

Certainly not a conventional, happily-ever-after ending at all. I know that pissed off a lot of PotC fans when AWE came out, but that's part of what makes PotC stand out (for me) from other adventure (and certainly other Disney) flicks -- it turned a lot of stale, old movie conventions (and stereotypes) on their heads!

And, of course, there's always fanfic to rectify the oversights and inequities! ;-)

Thanks again for Commenting on my work! So glad you're still "tuning in" ...

X + Elizabeth Swann: Results May Vary.

Will should definitely have knocked on wood. Not that it would have helped against that "touch of destiny".

Another great one.

Yes, Destiny does have a tendency to get her own way, doesn't she? (Unfortunately.)

Another great one.

Thank you, ma'am! Much obliged! :-)

And Destiny awaits... Just around the corner.

... with nasty, big, pointy teeth. (Oh, sorry ... that's Monty Python's killer rabbit, isn't it? Not Destiny ...) ;-)

Poor guy, our Turner.

Indeed! All he wants is a happy, simple life with the woman he loves (doesn't quite get that, does he? Darn that Destiny!)

Thank you so much for Commenting!

Poor Will. We all know what's going to happen the day of this wedding he is probably planning with great enthusiasm and dreaming about at night. I'm sure even as the captain of the Flying Dutchman, though, he'll find some woman adrift and the two of them will make beautiful music together for all eternity. I think what Will craves most is really just a family and I think he is entitled to one because he is a good guy and like someone else said, would have been perfectly happy spending the rest of his life making swords and babies. Just think, if he at least got the credit for making the swords his happiness would have increased by at least 30%, lol. Will's fate is not an enviable one, but I do think he will find happiness.

Yep -- it was me who made the "swords and babies" comment. :-)

I think you're right ... having had a not-so-ideal family life himself growing up (dead mother at twelve, only sporadic visits from Dad during his childhood, ship sunk out from under him by pirates on the passage over) I think he likely craved love, stability, and a sense of permanence in his life. Since he's not likely to find that simple, uncomplicated life with Elizabeth now, perhaps the duty and routine of the Dutchman will suffice.

Whether Will Turner can find love and happiness in the land of the dead (geez, sounds like the "tagline" for some macabre soap opera, doesn't it?) ... well, I guess that's up to the fanfic writers! ;-)

Thank you for your Comments! Glad you liked the drabble!
