Yes, one would think Elizabeth would know better that Jack will ALWAYS cheat, if it means getting something he truly wants! (But then, knowing the "forfeit" Jack would exact, maybe she was actually hoping she'd lose!) ;-)

There's all kinds of ways to win at cards and Jack seems to have discovered one that suits his needs at every turn. Such a stinker that one and yet, don't know of anyone who'd kick him out of bed once there! Love your tale, love the lightness and playfulness that shines in his sparkling dark eyes and the darlin' pout he'd posture if questioned too sharply. He hates getting openly caught/confronted doesn't he? Thank you so much for the treat. I love pets, getting hugged/touched and this was such a sweet one! Pickle, youngest grey tabby it/girl sat right here in my lap and read it with me, offering her loudest sweetest purr at the end.

Absolutely! I believe, in this case, by Elizabeth losing, they BOTH won! ;-)
Sounds just like something Jack would come up with tp baffle Lizzie. Lord love a duck, the boy had too much time on his hands if he has become so adept at cheating sleight of hand kind of card playing lol...There's all kinds of ways to win at cards and Jack seems to have discovered one that suits his needs at every turn.
Of course! Jack's a master at manipulating a situation to get what he wants, and this is no different. (And, given what he hoped to gain, I would wager he took especial care to make sure the deck was stacked in his favour, and he ended up with the winning hand!) ;-)
Such a stinker that one and yet, don't know of anyone who'd kick him out of bed once there!
