Yes ... poor Jack, parted from his precious Pearl for three long years, likely suffering the lowest point of his life since Beckett and the branding. And resorting to living in a flophouse so squalid that even the vermin refuse to stay there! (That's GOT to be bad!) :-(
But you know our Jack ... give him some time for his bumps and bruises to heal, some clean duds, a bit of shine in his mouth to plug that gap, a new hair-do--and a good dose of hope--and he'll be good as new, ready to conquer the world, and get the Pearl back! After all, he IS Captain Jack Sparrow! He just needs to be reminded of that! ;-)
Ah, such a generous gesture on Elizabeth's part- perhaps it made all the difference!
Yes, one can never underestimate the impact of an act of kindness, particularly when you're feeling at the end of your rope.
