Loved the introductions...and the banter. Eating their manly headwear! Laughed myself silly on that one.
Now to the meat of the matter for me....
"His face was transformed, becoming almost transcendent, as he continued, in a low, passionate voice. "On rare occasions, a captain is blessed by being paired with a ship that is his equal in every way-his soul's mate, if you will. >I was fortunate to have found such a perfect match in my own sweet lady."<
"From the moment I saw her, stepped foot upon her deck, felt the curve of her wheel under me hands, heard her sweet voice in the winds singing through her shrouds and the pulse of her lifeblood in every creak of her boards, I knew there would be no other ship for me. I pledged me heart to her as a man does a wife, went through hell itself to claim and to keep her! Watched her burn and die, practically sold me immortal soul to see her restored to life and glory! The merest thought of replacing her-me heart, me home, me very life-why, it's positively unthinkable!"
And if there is any thought in your heart that I am not in tears over this, please...ohmyword, that's the Pearl and Jack inspiring my love in their connection, you got it just right--so pretty this explanation, so from Jack's heart his driving love. Can't say enough nice about this paragraph--man, just accept you have written The Truth. Luscious.
Love the gift you made for geekmama cos I get to enjoy it too. Thanks and all the hard work, yeah, we noticed, we love, yeah, done good miz luvvycat, done very very good!

Yes, well, in Jack's defence, he wasn't expecting to bring back company (at least, none that he didn't have to pay for!), or else he might have tidied up beforehand. But he WAS considerate enough to empty the chamber-pot, eh! ;-)
But, yeah, it's a real indication of what a low point Jack's been brought to. The place falls well below Jack's usual standards!

Yes, Jack just wouldn't be Jack without the quips and banter, would he? Glad it gave you a giggle! :-)

Thank you so much! That's the reaction I hoped for Jack to instill in Elizabeth (and Will). The tears in Elizabeth's eyes are as much for Jack's story as it is about giving up her cherished mother's necklace. Loss is loss, and that's something both Elizabeth and Will can relate to. So nice that you were swept up in the emotion, too, along with the characters!
But that's the whole crux of the thing, isn't it? The Pearl is such a significant part of what makes Jack, Jack, and her loss, and his continued separation from her is, for him, akin to a bereavement. He won't be complete until he is reunited with her.

So glad you're enjoying! I only regret that I wasn't able to complete it while the holidays were still the holidays! At this rate, maybe I'll get it finished by Valentine's Day... ;-)
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments and compliments (and for the laughter, as well as tears)! :-)
