I had the best birthday I have ever had and probably will ever have. The whole night was so perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday. Andrea did such a great job of keeping everything a surprise. I had no clue what all she had planned. It all started when she came and picked me up from work. I was so excited I could barely contain myself. She took me to Sandia Casino, Resort & Spa. It started off with both of us getting an amazing massage, which I had been wanting for a really long time.
Then we went and got ready for a very romantic dinner. We went to Ben Shur on the top floor of the resort. It was so beautiful. The view is amazing. On one side we had the view of the mountain and on the other side was the view of the city and we were sitting in front of a fire place and there was someone playing the piano behind us. We had some wine and tried Escargo for the first time. It was kinda chewy but edible. lol. Our food was so good. I had duck and she had lamb. Desert was really good too. I had a apple tart with vanilla ice cream and she had a fruit tart thing. The waiter put a candle in my ice cream which was really sweet.
So, before we even got the appetizers she made up this story about why she had to go back to the room. I totally bought into it and believed her. She was gone forever though and I was getting so sad. She finally came back after our appetizer was brought out but she ended up leaving me again before our dinner was served. Little did I know she was setting up the whole room all romantic with candles, rose petals, champagne and music.
After our amazing dinner, we went back to the room and I'm so dumb because it didn't even click what was going on. I saw the champagne first on the dresser and I thought she had some sent up for us. Then, I saw the laptop with the music playing and then I thought, she had one of her friends set up the room for us. Then, I saw written out on the bed with rose petals, "Marry Me." Then, I turn around and she got down on one knee and I started bawling right away. I kept saying, "what are you doing?" Then, she grabbed my hand and said, "Marry me. You're the only one I've ever wanted to marry." After crying some more, I said "Of Course!!!" She put my ring on and then we danced to "Let's stay together," and had some champagne.
It was so super perfect and beautiful. She did an amazing job of planning all of this out to the very last detail. I felt so special and loved that she went to all of this trouble and stress to show me how much she loves me. We've asked each other so many times casually to get married but this time it was for sure official. She's such a stinker because she's been saying for the last few months how she doesn't think marriage is necessary and how it's a straight tradition and we don't fit into that mold. I had gotten to the point where I was ok if we never got married because I know we're going to be together forever anyway. So, I was totally shocked that she officially asked me.
So, we are just going to go out to California where it's legal and go to the Justice of the Peace. We're thinking the weekend of July 20th. December 20th is our anniversary, so we wanted to keep the 20th. June is a little too soon so July will work. We will eventually have a reception but for now we just want something small just for us. We are so excited and so happy and I can't wait until she's officially my wife. Thanks for reading and thank you to all who support and love us.
Thank you to my fiance, Andrea Dawn Batchelor. You've made me the happiest girl in the whole world and I'm so incredibly lucky to have you in my life forever. Thank you for the best birthday ever. I have no idea how I'm going to top this one but I'll think of something. I love you so so so much. MUAH!!!!!
