BAD JOKE?
On Facebook I keep an album of some photos from Israel. Its entitled: "Palestein"
It was in reference to a joke I was told by a Moroccan Jew.
"You know how to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict?
One state - Palestine - but spell it S-T-E-I-N."
Best of both worlds?
By no means did I mean it to be offensive. I knew it was out there, but I didn't realize the extent of the hype it would get. I have had friends delete tags of themselves from the album due to the politics of the title. Also, while I was on Facebook I received a chat from a Jewish-Israeli girl living in Tel-Aviv who a friend of mine from home had told me to meet. She immediately told me to change the title, but with a smile :)
I guess this instance just further demonstrated how aware I need to be about the things I do and the political, religious or individual emotional implications they may have.
