Update and New Years
Did not get a Christmas Do-Over. I caught the dreaded Cain Christmas Curse and spent the Christmas Make-up Day flat on my back with no will to party. I did recover at last and have been able to enjoy the very thoughtful loot that my family bestowed upon me. Merry Christmas to me.
Today, if you've been living in a hole, is New Year's Day. Last night we had a wonderfully adult evening at my sister's house with adult food and adult beverages. It was relaxing, the food was great and the company superb. Thanks Aimee and John.
Nicole has arrived from Iowa-Connecticut. She is my brother's wife. She is brilliant, witty, and totally won over by my lovable, goofy brother. He waited a long time to marry, but in Nikki-B he's got a keeper.
The beginning of a new decade. The last decade was one of change elected and forced. In the 10 years we have faced the death of my mother-in-law, the birth of a 2 nieces and 2 nephews, the death of a dear pet, the destruction of one brother's marriage and the beginning of another brother's happiness. My children have grown into adulthood in this ten years and I have advanced into "later" years of my life. We have faced unemployment, prosperity, alcoholism and recovery, 2 flood, 2 fires and the joys of new home ownership. In this decade I have had three professions at eight site assignments. I have reconnected with old friends thought lost, made new friends from perceived enemies and maintained relationships with those closest to me.
What will a new decade bring to us? I have hopes. I have fears, but all I know to do it put it in God's hands and sit back and enjoy the scenery.
