Hi Everybody,
Well, it certainly has been a while since I wrote anything resembling an update letter, but I think circumstances are such that I SHOULD write one. So, here goes.
For those of you who don't know, after high school I decided that I was sick of school and didn't want to go back...ever. So after a year of working (at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory), and synchro swimming, I was faced with a decision; to either go back to school or further my synchro training somewhere else. ...I took the opportunity to get the heck outta dodge, and moved to Toronto to continue to swim. When I left, I joked to my mom that I was coming back with a tattoo and a fiancee.
Fast forward three years - endless early mornings, sore muscles, two knee injuries, several training camps, awesome teammates, crazy competition stories, great parties and better friends, trips to New York City, Atlanta and Finland, good decisions, downright dumb decisions, two boyfriends, six rediculously long road-trips and a tattoo later, we get to today.
For everyone (including myself) who thought I'd never go back to school, I've proved us all wrong. After a year of looking around and applying different places and trying to decide what the heck I wanna do with my life... I've accepted a scholarship to the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. Four years of swimming and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree - or at least, that's the plan!
I'm finishing up my last week in toronto, my last day of work is thursday. My brother is flyin out on sunday to help my drive all my stuff back to winnipeg, where I intend to spend some time at the cottage (YAY!!!), see my friends, let my family shower me with gifts and congratulations, and attend a wedding for a good friend. As of august the 17th I'll be registered for class, moved into my dorm, and most likely late for my first swim practice!
Anyhoo, that's the latest news, please feel free to keep in touch and email me anytime! I'm gonna miss you all, especially now I have TWO homes to miss! (By the way I promise, if you're thinking cowboys, guns, or the word "y'all" right now, i've absolutely heard it a thousand times already, save yourself the trouble).
More updates to come, i'm sure.
Lotsa love, take care of yourselves!
