Soap

So, if you haven't been following my twitter or facebook, I make soap now. From scratch, with lye. Old fashioned, cold process soap. It's so easy, you wouldn't believe me. Making soap is kind of like baking a cake, except if you mix it wrong it's caustic. I have yet to make a batch incorrectly, and I've made about a hundred bars. It keeps me busy and I'm hoping I can sell it at craft fairs this summer and make a little money.

Lexi turns two on Sunday! We decided not to have a party and plan a mini vacation the following weekend instead. We're heading to the coast and the aquarium! She's quite the talker now. She repeats everything we say. I have really got to learn to watch my language! Here favorite sentence is "NO MORE MONKEYS JUMPING ON THE BED!"

She is also obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine. One night I tucked her in to bed, kissed her and said, "I love you." She responded, "I love Thomas Train!" Lately, I keep catching her with her nose, quite literally, in her books. I thought she was being funny. I'm always joking about her and Mike having their noses in a book, and I thought she was taking that literally because she doesn't understand the concept of a figure of speech yet. Today I got a close look at what she was doing with her nose pressed up against the pages of Blue Train Green Train. Her lips were puckered! She was KISSING Thomas!

My weight loss has slowed down a little. It's still happening, but lately it's not happening as quickly as those first ten pounds happened. I think it's mainly because my routine has gotten too comfortable, so I'm not pushing myself as hard. I need to change things up! It seems to me that the people I know who are successful at working out regularly make it a hobby. Sometimes it's a class, sometimes it's cycling, sometimes it's running, but it's regular because they enjoy it. I need to find something I actually like doing instead of something I'm doing just to lose weight. Especially if I want to keep the weight off- I need something that I will want to keep doing. I'm considering trying martial arts courses. It's something I've always been interested in and a great way to get cardio. I can always do extra muscle toning at home to get those target spots.

School is almost over. This semester has been kind of light so far. I know if I don't get cracking on my final papers things are going to pile up at the end of the semester! Today I feel a little to lazy to do much of anything. I'm chill out with Mike and watch some Avatar: The Last Airbender. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. It's more than a kids show, for sure. Mike's gotten hooked now too.
