Well the week started out pretty cool. The middle was horrible then turned back on the upside at the end.
Soccer: I was able to set up a preseason scrimmage for my school team against my old school Carver. Most coaches don't do this but both the Carver coach and I were totally excited and were able to get transportation and an offical (as well as approval from the higher powers.) Last year the teams tied in the season. I told the girls how this was one team that I definately wanted to beat through the season, just because I used to work there, and that makes them work harder. Well we played a good game and ended up winning 6-1! I am very excited. I made a few mistakes and so did the girls, but I told them before the game that this was a practice game to work out a few of the bugs and we would all make mistakes and would be ok. As long as we learned at least 3 things from the game about our team, then we reached our goal. So today we talked about what we learned. It was pretty neat. Now I'm back to the drawing board about how we set the field. I have a few things to think about before our first real game on Tuesday.
Family: We spent Wednesday night at the emergency room. My son had a seizure. He has never had one before and it was a bad one. Not to mention a really long one (over 10 minutes we think). So for the first time, I had to call 911 and we rode in the ambulance. It took him about an hour to come to in the hospital afterwards. It was scary. I can't seem to get the image out of my head of his lifeless body. He looked dead. Matt and I both thought we lost our little boy. I have never been more scared in my entire life. Come to find out it was because he randomly spiked a high fever very quickly. He had only started to have the fever about 45 minutes before the seizure came on. But it rose so quickly that it put him kinda in shock. So they did some blood work and he has some flu like virus. He seems to be doing better. We keep him pumped full of motrin so his fever doesn't come back. We didn't get much sleep that morning afterwards either and Matt and I both went to work in a daze. Luckily my students were wonderful for me. I told them what happened and that I needed them to be good because I wasn't ready for the day and we weren't going to have our regular lessons and just review. They were very ok with that. Several times I broke down and teared up. But they just sat their quietly and offered hugs. It is amazing how sometimes teenagers can be so wonderful when they need to.
Emily turns 4 tomorrow. I am not prepared. I still need to make a cake. We were supposed to have 3 soccer games and a Girl Scout Cookie Booth sale. The soccer games have been cancelled due to the rain we got today. And as horrible as this sounds, I'm kinda glad. I am so exhausted that I just want to stay home.
